Hey Change Maker,

Every time I meet with a nonprofit about funding I am amazed by all the incredible ideas they have to make a major impact for the population they serve... 

and of course I ask, "Why isn't someone funding this?"

and they usually reply with, "I don't know, you tell me."

But when we dig into what they have done to get it funded, they often haven't even jotted down the essentials it would take to get it funded.

Its just this magical brain child sitting in their head, and it won't get funded there.

So I have created this template to help get the essentials out of your head and into a document that will knock funders socks right off.

With this one pager you will be able to clearly articulate

  • The Purpose for the Funding:  What is the desired result you are trying to achieve, with the funding and why does it matter?
  • The Problem:  What is the problem you are addressing? What is the evidence that backs that problem up? What are the root causes of the problem? What is the problem's impact on society at large? Why should a funder care to be part of the solution? What would happen if this problem wasn't addressed?
  • The Solution: What is your solution?  How does it address root causes of the problem? What is unique, special about the solution? How does your program lead to outcomes the funder would care about? How do you know this solution will work? What does the world look like if everyone eligible for your program was able to participate?
  • Why You: Why are you are the best organization for the job? What sets you apart from other similar organizations. Why should someone give you money? Why should they trust you will deliver?
  • Impact Metrics: What are you prepared to report back to your funder on? You want to include how much, how well and is anybody better off metrics (don't worry, I give you examples).
  • Funding Needed: What is the total initiative cost and what will that get the funder?

I know this seems like a lot, but it's necessary. Why should someone fund your idea if you can't answer these questions?

By answering these questions before a funder asks, you demonstrate that you care deeply about impact and being a good steward of funds.

In the template, I give all the prompts you need to come up with the answers funders really want to know. I want to see some of these God-given ideas funded!
